Sew this hat with me! The PDF pattern is included in this course. This video walks you through making the Bardot Bucket Hat.
The Bardot has 4 size options (S,M,L, Doll or Pug size LOL) and 3 Brim Size options - traditional or small brim, medium brim, and an extra wide brim with lots of coverage.
Small brim measures 3" (standard bucket hat look - see Clovis in photo 2)
Med brim measures 5" (I'm wearing this in a photo-you can't see my face as I'm looking down)
Extra Wide brim measures 7" (Cover Girl Kim is wearing this one in red)
Pug size / Doll size brim is tiny so our furry babies can see where they are going. I did add elastic (1/4" width) to the hat so it will stay on Tori. See photo 6.
*The "regular size" will fit most heads - if you think you might need a smaller hat, try the small size hat. If you usually need more room for your giant brain or poofy hair, try the large-size hat. This is the joy of sewing amiright? We get to make things that fit our bodies. No pressures, & no squeezies.
2/10/24 UPDATE: BONUS video added. Make a Shannon Cuddle hat, start to finish!
FABRICS: Make it with quilting cotton, broadcloth, linen, chambray, lightweight canvas, or even lightweight denim! Make it wild and funky or classic, the choice is yours! My collection will work too, no joke!
Materials required:
1/2 yard exterior fabric - extra wide brim requires 3/4 yard
1/2 yard lining fabric - extra wide brim requires 3/4 yard
1 & 3/4 yard SF101 for all sizes of hat and brims or 2 yards if you like more room for placement
1/2 yard fusible fleece (Pellon 987F)
Pattern pieces need to be printed at 100% - DO NOT SCALE and do not "fit to page".
AO files are included in this course for those with projectors.
The Bardot is reversible, packable for travel, giftable, easy to sew, a scrap buster, quick, customizable, and provides a fun way to show your personality!
